As reported in Airport-Technology.com

Global Display Solutions (GDS), market leader in the design
and manufacture of display solutions, has joined forces with
NextWindow, designer and developer of optical imaging
technologies in the field of touch recognition. Under the
agreement NextWindow will supply optical imaging technology
for integration into GDS's new 32in and 37in LCD
displays, providing the displays with touch screen
capabilities.
GDS selected NextWindow for its touchscreen technology after
GDS's research into the touch solutions available for
large interactive displays identified NextWindow's
technology as being superior in performance over other touch
technologies on the market. This new joint venture will
enable both companies to combine their unrivalled
manufacturing and design capabilities to deliver touchscreen
displays of unparalleled quality and innovation to industry
sectors such as retail, banking, travel and leisure. The
development is another key product in GDS's new
e-Signage range, launched in 2004.
As part of the agreement, NextWindow will supply GDS with
optical imaging touch components on a non-exclusive OEM basis
and support services to assist GDS with the successful
integration of the components. The agreement also provides
GDS with a licence to use NextWindow's TouchEngine,
installation and integration software.
Steve Morrison, Director of NextWindow comments, "This
partnership offers fantastic opportunities for GDS and
NextWindow. We look forward to a long-standing relationship
that will extend the range of innovative, high quality,
interactive display products on offer to our customers."
The 32in and 37in touchscreen displays will offer GDS
customers unique and far-reaching marketing opportunities for
selling their products and services to end-users in the
growing digital signage marketplace.
NextWindow's ground-breaking advancements in optical
imaging technology facilitate the production of large-scale
interactive touchscreens. The technology is unique in
providing touch sensitivity to the entire surface including
the surrounding panel area as well as the active display
screen. As a result, almost any size glass surface can be
touch-enabled. The company provides integrated touch
technology solutions to a number of industries including
telecommunications, tourism and retail. The company has
offices in Auckland, New Zealand, and London, United Kingdom.
