NextWindow Four-Camera Touch Screen Makes Japan Debut
New ProfileTouch 4S showing at FPD International trade show October 26–28
Pleasanton, CA – October 25, 2011 – NextWindow, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SMART Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: SMT) (TSX: SMA), announces that its ProfileTouch 4S, the company’s first four-camera touch screen, will make its Japan debut at the 2011 Flat Panel Displays (FPD) International trade show in Yokohama, Japan. The high-profile event draws the world’s top manufacturers of flat panel displays, parts and materials. The ProfileTouch 4S offers sophisticated gesture and writing recognition as well as dual-user capabilities, enabling increased collaboration in meeting spaces and classrooms. The ProfileTouch 4S will be showing October 26–28 in booth 3501.

EIZO® Using NextWindow Touch Screens in Multitouch FlexScan® Monitors

Innovative FlexScan T2351W and T1751 monitors now shipping in the United States
Pleasanton, CA – May 3, 2011 – NextWindow, a subsidiary of SMART TechnologiesInc. (NASDAQ: SMA) (TSX: SMT), announces that Japanese manufacturer, Eizo Nanao Corporation (EIZO), is using the NextWindow 1900 Desktop Touch in itsnew multitouch FlexScan computer monitors. The 23" (58.4 cm) FlexScan T2351W and 17" (43.2 cm) FlexScan T1751 monitors provide a unique tilt function offering six settings from 15 degrees to 65 degrees from a horizontal position. The tilt capability enables users, whether seated or standing, to rest their palms and forearms on the monitor bezel to interact comfortably with the multitouch display. With superb image quality, durability and ergonomic design, the FlexScan T2351W and FlexScan T1751 are ideal for use in a number of environments, including health facilities, schools, universities, libraries, kiosks, entertainment centers, offices and homes. The multitouch monitors can be used to display information, input data, read documents and e-books, edit digital photos and to play games. Both the FlexScan T2351 and FlexScan T1751 are now available throughout the United States.

Hard Rock Cafe International Using NextWindow™ Touch Screens

Rock Wall™ Solo displays enhance music lovers’ experiences in Seattle, Dallas, Detroit and Berlin
Pleasanton, CA – April 12, 2011 – NextWindow, a subsidiary of SMART Technologies, announces that Hard Rock Cafe International, which is owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, has deployed NextWindow 2150 touch screens at restaurants in Seattle, Washington; Dallas, Texas; Detroit, Michigan; and Berlin, Germany. The multitouch displays are attached to 52" (132.1 cm) NEC monitors implemented by NextWindow integrator Horizon Display. The multitouch-enabled monitors, called the Rock WallTM Solo, enable customers to zoom in and experience rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia by, for example, reading the manufacturer markings on John Lennon’s glasses. All company owned Hard Rock Cafes will have at least one Rock Wall Solo by the end of this year, and touch screens installed in 2011 will be attached to 55” Samsung monitors.

The 2550 ProfileTouch is a plug-and-play touch screen, meaning that no software drivers are required to operate it. The plug-and-play capability is valuable to systems integrators and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), as it speeds and simplifies the production of new applications. Designed for large-format applications, the 2550 ProfileT ouch has thinner borders and a lower profile than previous NextWindow large-format solutions, enabling easier integration into a wide range of displays.

NextWindow, the leading provider of optical touch screens to manufacturers of desktop PCs, monitors and large-format displays, today announced that a series of manufacturing improvements at its factories in Asia have helped the company to increase touch screen output capacity significantly. The upgraded processes are associated with heat staking, glue dispensing, curing, assembly and set-up of touch screens. By adding new production lines, automating previously manual processes and updating equipment and test software, NextWindow has been able to double its manufacturing capacity.
