USB Driver Reinstallation

(Windows XP O/S)
Under some circumstances, you may need to reinstall the USB driver. To do this use the following instructions:

From the Start Menu select:
Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager Button

Next you need to locate the NextWindow USB Device - this is usually labeled USB Composite Device.
To check, double-click the device and the Properties screen should be displayed. NextWindow Touchscreen should be identified. If this is displayed (see the examples below) then continue, otherwise check any other similar entries until you find the NextWindow USB Composite Device.

Device Manager

Device Properties

Close the Properties screen.

Ensure that the USB Composite device is selected and press the Del key to delete the item

To reinstall the USB device, unplug and then plug-in the NextWindow USB cable.

Wait until the "Found New Hardware" message is displayed.

This completes the procedure.

(USB) Touch Screen Does not Work (Green Light LED not Displayed)

Under the following circumstances:
- the Touch Screen does not work, and
- the Green Light (LED) on the Touch Screen is not displayed, and
- the Touch Screen has been connected to the Power, and
- the USB Cable has been connected from the Touch Screen to the Computer,
then use the following action to try to resolve the issue.

Try a different USB port on the computer. If none of the USB ports on the computer "work," then try unplugging and plugging in again (up to 5 times to the same USB port - as there are 4 interface descriptors to register under Windows).

USB Device not recognized Error Message

FIRST - connect the touch panel overlay to the mains power via a 12 VDC power adapter.

SECOND - once the mains power is switched on, then connect the USB from the touch panel to the computer.
